Greetings from the Director's Desk
The world of child care has been nothing these past few years if not a whirlwind of activity. While exciting times indeed, what has become increasingly evident over the past year is how easy it can be to become reactionary to all that is occurring around us. In the words of one of our coaches there is a tendency at times to feel a bit like an Octopus with not enough arms to juggle everything and while much is happening at times it feels a bit like being on a ship without navigation, aimlessly wandering wherever the wind takes us. That being said, while the role of a Director is a fine balance of leadership and management; sadly one of the most critical responsibilities compromised in times of increased pressure is that of stepping back and setting strategic vision. So how then do we move from being reactionary (managing) to pro-active (leading) in order to propel organizational
goals forward with intention and focus?

Message from the Board of Directors
it is my pleasure to introduce to you the Board of Directors for 2009-2010. Members of the Board represent a number of geographic regions in Alberta as well as national level representation. Additionally, board members have a combination of experience and education specific to child care but representative of the broad range of services offered in the early childhood sector.
Recently, we engaged in a strategic planning session that we hope will help us to set a platform for ARCQE’s future endeavours. It is our goal to continue to provide leadership and services so that a professional workforce can support children and families in Alberta in high quality programs. The Board remains committed to ARCQE’s mission of Building Capacity and Supporting Quality. In the coming years, ARCQE will continue to develop and deliver services that excite and inspire leadership and capacity in programs and services for children and families. Our focus over the next years will be on sustainability, excellence and leadership, certainly for ARCQE but especially for the professionals we serve.
